About

Mr Budget For FI/RE (Mr. BFF) is a late twenties IT Professional that writes on his down-time about the challenges that he and his family have faced and how they approach achieving their goals.

I am an IT Professional working in the insurance industry currently, aspiring to continue up the IT ladder into an architecture role. My soon-to-be wife works for the state in a very customer-facing position. We continue to push each other to frequently increase our skills and increase our income.

Some of the challenges that my fiancée and I are facing is spending enough time with our two kids, ensuring that we are putting enough money away to purchase a house, and ensuring that our financial goals align with each other. Our two kids are absolutely awesome, they might be turds occasionally, but we love them and continue to work with them to find things they like and want to do. We are frequently looking at ways that we can both decrease our expenses, increase our income, and continue saving aggressively for retirement. We have been discussing our desired retirement age and we are positioning ourselves to retire at 55.

While this blog focuses on Retiring Early as a goal, for us, 55 is our goal to retire. It’s still early enough that we should be able to enjoy our kids lives and grand kids, but late enough that we still have plenty of income up to retirement that we get to sack away to have our money work for us. We have plans in place to achieve financial independence prior to retirement, which will certainly help us in being prepared for the significant changes that retirement will bring.
